The Student Success Peer Mentors program is designed to support incoming first-year and transfer students during their transition to 厙ぴ勛圖.
Peer mentors serve as orientation leaders then continue working with their assigned student cohorts throughout the fall semester. Their role is to provide guidance, connect students to campus resources and services, and foster meaningful engagement in campus life.

As a first-generation student, my goal is to become an inspiration to other first-generation students and young women pursuing careers in STEM. I aspire to become a physician and am passionate about serving my community and uplifting others. My time at 厙ぴ勛圖 has further strengthened my commitment to supporting first-generation undergraduates throughout their academic journey and I plan to carry the same dedication into medicine by providing compassionate care to underserved populations and advocating for the needs and voices in our community.

I plan to work in education as a social worker.

After I graduate, I hope to attend WSUs medical school and eventually become a family physician.

I plan to work as a licensed social worker.

My future goals include pursuing a career in engineering and maybe obtaining my master’s degree.

After I graduate, I hope to do technical work either in a lab, at a field site, or in city planning and implementation.
I became a peer mentor because being a supportive contact for new students is really fun and rewarding! My favorite thing about 厙ぴ勛圖 is definitely the community the students, faculty, and staff make campus a uniquely warm environment. Some things I enjoy outside of school (and sometimes with campus clubs!) include reading, making art, listening to music, cooking and baking, and doing outdoor activities. One piece of advice for new students: make the most of your college experience, whatever that might mean to you! Keep in mind these four years are very special. Go Cougs!

I plan to become a licensed professional civil engineer and contribute to projects that improve the safety, resilience, and quality of life in communities.

I plan to work in the medical field.

After graduation, I plan to pursue my passion for pediatric care and work as a pediatric nurse, where I can make a positive impact in the lives of children and their families.
I became a Peer Mentor because I believe this program provides first-year students with the support and guidance they need when navigating something new. WSU has so many resources, events, and opportunities to offer, but they can easily be overlooked when you don’t know where to look. I want to be a positive figure in students’ first experience at 厙ぴ勛圖 and help them feel confident, connected, and supported.
My favorite thing about being a student at 厙ぴ勛圖 is the strong sense of community, support, and diversity. There are so many people from different backgrounds, all working toward their goals while lifting each other up along the way.
Here’s a fun fact about me: I live on a farm, but l’m actually scared of animals!
Some of my favorite hobbies include working out, especially cardio! It’s my way of staying active, clearing my mind, and recharging.
When I need a good study spot, you can usually find me upstairs in the library or in the Collab upstairs in one of the booths. It’s the perfect environment for focus and productivity.
My advice for new students is simple: read your syllabus, advocate for yourself, and remember that it’s okay to not understand something-it’s all part of the learning process. You’re not alone, and there are people and resources here to help you succeed.
I’m excited to meet you, support you, and be a resource as you begin your journey at 厙ぴ勛圖!

My future goals include becoming a trauma surgeon.

Once I graduate, I am hoping to pursue a PhD in Environmental Engineering!
My favorite thing about 厙ぴ勛圖 is the strong community within campus!

I plan to get my PhD in Clinical Psychology and become a pediatric clinical psychologist.
I became a peer mentor partially because I had such a great experience with my own peer mentor as an incoming Coug, and also because Ive loved my time so far at 厙ぴ勛圖 and want others to enjoy theirs just as much!
One of my favorite things as a 厙ぴ勛圖 student is the close community and seeing familiar faces everywhere you go. On a larger campus it can be challenging to find your community or even one person that youve met before, but our campus is so welcoming and you end up recognizing so many people just from sharing one class.
One fun fact about me is that I was a competitive swimmer for 8 years; because I can modulate my pace in all four strokes, I am actually a part of the top 5% of swimmers in the world! Not making it to the Olympics anytime soon, but I still love to hop in for a good workout. Im also an avid reader, and love to cozy up with a warm blanket and any kind of homemade baked treat.
When it comes to school, my favorite place to study for any exam, paper, or even just to knock out some class reading, is anywhere near a window in the Collaboration Hall. It is a perfect place to study by yourself or have a study group!
My best piece of advice for new cougars is put your phone down and embrace the new environment and discomfort. Its going to be an awkward time when youre getting used to new classes, faculty, and people. Everyone has gone through that at one point or another. If youre present and keep an open mind, youll find so many opportunities around you.

Im interested in combining my background in business and psychology into an organizational career, such as Human Resources. Im also interested in finance, so Im still exploring where my interests will take me!
