DearÌýÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï students,

The faculty and staff at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï areÌýkeenly aware that students across the country and the world are experiencing many uncertainties and challenges. We primarily wish to underscore our commitment toÌýhelping you achieve your degree,Ìýequity,Ìýand to encourage self-care, balance, meaningful learning and care for others.

With midtermsÌýwrapped up, we want to make sure you are taking care of yourself.ÌýEven though manyÌýsupportÌýservices might look different than what you expected, they are still available to help you succeedÌýacademically and personally.ÌýRemember these things while working through the semester:

  • ³§±ð±ô´Ú-³¦²¹°ù±ð.ÌýSelf-care is of high importance, especially in times of crisis. We recognize that many students areÌýeconomically struggling,Ìýfacing losses and hardships of countless kinds,ÌýandÌýareÌýmerely seeking to get by.ÌýWe encourage all students to be gentle with themselves during this time,Ìýand as Tri-CitiesÌýCoug, take advantage ofÌýCampus Recreation,ÌýCougar Cupboard Food Bank,ÌýMental Health and Counseling, and manyÌýmore servicesÌý²¹±¹²¹¾±±ô²¹²ú±ô±ð.
  • Academic work.ÌýYour academic engagement andÌýwork during this time matter to us, but given the circumstances of many families, we recognize that you may face obstacles to academic work.ÌýReach out toÌýAcademic Advising,Ìýtutoring,Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌýwriting services,Ìýin addition to faculty office hoursÌýfor assistance.
  • Your safety and others. ThisÌýpandemic has created aÌývastÌýarray of needs,Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌýwe fully commit to protecting our collective health and well-being. TheÌýConnected CougÌýnewsletter isÌýsent out every week to yourÌýWSUÌýemail address and is an excellent resource to help youÌýcontribute to the recovery of our communities.ÌýIf you are concerned about a peer, you may submit aÌýCougar CaresÌýand a member of the support services team will reach out to them.
  • Civic participation.ÌýWe valueÌýthe responsibility to prepare students to be informed and active citizens andÌýunderstandÌýthe importance ofÌýyourÌývoice in all local, state, and national elections. To that end, the campusÌýand your student government association (ASWSUTC)ÌýareÌýcommitted to promoting voter registration activities, dialogue, and participation.ÌýDon’t forget toÌý
  • Extracurricular activities.We also understand thatÌýthis pandemic has impacted activities, andÌýthere areÌýsome challengesÌýin conducting events that you were expecting virtually or at a distance.ÌýPotential internship opportunities, jobs, and other types ofÌýmeaningful engagementÌýareÌýaccessibleÌýto you via theÌýcampus career servicesÌýand theÌýStudent Engagement and Leadership.
